‘Eagle’ Possible for Breeders’ Cup
Trainer John Gosden is now looking towards the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland Oct. 30-31 for G2 King Edward VII S. hero Eagle Top (GB) (Pivotal {GB}). Gosden felt the ground at Newbury was too soft for his charge, after the Lady Bamford homebred ran third in the G3 Dubai Duty Free Legacy Cup Saturday as the odds-on favorite.
“Eagle Top got stuck in the ground at Newbury,” said Gosden. “We will just see how he comes out of it when we get him home. His greatest race was defeating Adelaide (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) in the King Edward VII S. He is not bred for that fast ground, but that is what he likes. He could possibly go to the Breeders’ Cup. One thing is he won’t run with it loose or soft.”
